I would have the students assigned to study the Civil War. I would ask them to use the computer to develop both a power point and write a paper. I would have the screen recorder have the instructions for how to use power point and Microsoft word.
I would then require the students to develop both a power point and write a one page report. I would divide the students to work on certain aspects about the war. Examples would be North vs South, Major battles and their outcomes, leaders on both sides, weapons of war, surrender, and agricultural vs industrial.
Then the students would learn by seeing the different power points and also read the papers to learn about the Civil War.
Each student would study a specific aspect of the war and broaden their individual knowledge by listening and reading the papers written and presented by the other students.

Use of flickr in classroom
I would do the following with flickr in the classroom
- Use disposable cameras or cameras brought from home to take pictures during field trips. Give a group of three students certain things or artifacts to find in the museum. This would cut down on the number of cameras needed and keep the children from just wondering around. I wonder if Canon or Nikon would offer free cameras or disposable cameras for schools ? May be something to pursue.
- for biology to watch plants grow. You could take pictures when seed has been put in the soil and then take weekly pictures to show the growth and progress.
- I would use flickr and you tube in partnership. Flickr to take pictures of Aberaham lLincoln and then also do a youtube entry that would show him giving the Gettysburg Address.
- Once the student had completed his art or science project, I would take pictures of each of them and send those pictures to all the parents of what the children had done. This could also be done to summarize what they learned on a field trip.

#3 on unit 4. you tube urls for lessons
I found three different web sites to help in my teaching.
1. The url was http://www.sopriswest.com/. It had to do with giving pupils rules to help with learning the alphabet and how words are sounded out and spelled. I really liked this site. It was easy to get to. I will probably check it out when doing other reading lessons too. The learning goal here is to have children learn how to read and write the English language.
2. The second site was on adding and subtracitng integers. The web site was http://www.timbedley.com/. He gave a neat way of showing children how to add and subtract negative integers by using dogs and cats. As with the first site, I will check out what other sites or parts he has also. The goal here is to have students be able to add and subtract integers with postive and negative numbers.
3. The last web site I looked at was http://www.technologylessonsforteachers.com/. This had a free lesson on plant samples. That could be used to explore science, culture, geography, and nutrition. The learning goal would be to learn about different plants, how they grow, and how we use them in our daily lives.

Question #2 in assignment
The high school that my son went to did have internet capability, but I did not see in the handbook where blogs were allowed. I will check with a couple of teachers I know to see what they say.
Question # 1 on views about internet safety
I feel that you need to be aware and careful of what information you give out. There are people out in the world that would take advantaage of information that was given out over a blog. This has never been a personal issue for me that I am aware of. I also have gotten a rider on my homeowners insurance policy for identity theft, which I think is a good idea.
